abstract = "The aim of the present work is to develop a classification of
forest fragments based on the Normalized Difference Vegetation
Index (NDVI), as a tool for the biodiversity recuperation and
conservation of the {"}Tabuleiro{"} Atlantic Forest, located in
Sooretama, north of Esp{\'{\i}}rito Santo State. The
characterization of some patterns of NDVI for a group of forest
fragments of distinct shape, size and history, analyzed by
phytosociological indicators, enabled the creation of a
classification based on human interference and its application in
214 fragments of this municipality. A multiple regression analysis
using this indicator lead to the development of a model, in which
the fragments are classified into tree types considering the trees
diversity: high, medium and low.",
